Medical Nutrition Therapy (Dietetics & Nutrition)

Have you been cutting out certain food groups or reducing your meals but still struggle to lose weight? Or are you suffering from recurring digestive issues that affect your quality of life?

Whether you are seeking to lose weight more effectively, manage your digestive issues or sugar and cholesterol levels, our dietitians can help. We can also help you to apply the dietary recommendations from your TCM physician.

Rather than diets, our approach focuses on healthy, sustainable eating tailored to your lifestyle and condition to effectively reach your health goals.

What is Medical Nutrition Therapy?

Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is an evidence-based medical approach to treating certain medical conditions through the use of an individually-tailored nutrition plan with a certified dietitian. It is an important component of our weight management program and for certain conditions where food choices play an important role (e.g. digestive issues, diabetes).

As a holistic approach, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) views food as ‘medicine’ and individuals’ diets as one of the major factors impacting their health. TCM physicians may sometimes ask about your eating habits to evaluate whether it plays a part in your condition. They may also make specific dietary recommendations to address health imbalances.

Our certified dietitians can help you to better apply the dietary advice given by a TCM physician for your condition and body constitution. We would also ensure that the recommendations are in line with Western medical recommendation.

The food on our plates comprises many components, which can be hard to imagine since we do not see them. These nutrients, however, have direct effects on all aspects of health – be it our gut health, blood sugar to body composition.

  • Provide nutrition education and advice for your individual condition
  • Devise a personalised eating plan tailored to your health goals, needs and lifestyle,

How Many Sessions Do I Need?

The number of consultation sessions required would differ based on each client’s goals and needs. If your condition is fairly simple and you only have a few questions to clarify, one session may suffice.

However, we observe that our clients usually obtain better results when there is at least one or more follow up session(s). This allows the opportunity to review and adjust your dietary plan based on any obstacles that might have arisen; and increases the likelihood of you following through with your plan. Thus, for best results we recommend at least 2 to 3 dietitian sessions.
