Cosmetic acupuncture, also known as facial acupuncture, is a means of targeted treatment administered by TCM physicians to manage skin health through localised and channelled healing.

The basis of healing comes from both external and internal regulation. Externally, the insertion of needles causes micro-trauma to the skin that releases electric impulses and localizes immune cells, enhancing the healing mechanism on the skin. Perforation also encourages the production of collagen and elastin fibres that fill up enlarged pores or uneven surfaces. Another effect is the renewal of epidermal cells. These cells store and maintain water and nutrient level underneath the skin, increasing dermal illuminance and elasticity. Thereafter, a diagnosis of the underlying condition is then tracked and taken care of through acupuncture along meridian pathways.
