TCM for Pain Management

Restore Balance. Resolve Stagnation.

Struggling with persistent aches or a sports injury? PULSE TCM identifies the root of your pain—from Qi stagnation to structural imbalances—to provide long-term relief through personalised TCM solutions.

Why chronic pain & sports injuries occur?

In TCM, pain is more than just a physical symptom; it is a sign of internal "disharmony." We identify the cause through three primary lenses:

Understanding Your Condition: Pain & Recovery

Whether you are facing Chronic Pain (discomfort lasting over 3 months) or a Sports Injury (acute trauma or overuse), the TCM approach is the same: resolve stagnation and restore vitality.

We focus on clearing systemic inflammation, unblocking meridians, and strengthening the body to ensure a sustainable return to peak performance.

Our Proactive TCM Approach to Healing

Our physician will recommend a combination of the following based on your assessment:

Acupuncture

Inserting fine needles into meridian points to stimulate natural pain-relief and improve blood flow.

Therapeutic Cupping (Ba Guan)

Using suction to draw out toxins, resolve blood stagnation, and relieve deep muscle tension.

Gua Sha (Scraping)

Using a smooth-edged tool to stroke the skin, Gua Sha improves microcirculation and breaks down scar tissue or "knots" in the fascia. It is particularly effective for chronic neck and shoulder tension (Office Syndrome).

PULSE TCM Moxibustion Therapy

Moxibustion

Applying heat from burning mugwort near the skin to dispel "Cold-Dampness" and strengthen the body’s Yang energy.

Super Inductive System (SIS)

A high-intensity electromagnetic catalyst that targets deep nerves and tissues to accelerate the healing of fractures and provide rapid pain relief.

*Note: Available exclusively at PULSE Signature (ION Orchard) and Great World.

PULSE TCM Tuina

Medical Tui Na Massage

A specialised TCM manual therapy to realign soft tissues and improve joint mobility.

Note: These are performed by physicians with specific musculoskeletal expertise.

PULSE TCM Bone Setting

TCM Bone Setting

Precise manipulation to realign joints and the spine, relieving pressure on nerves and improving structural balance.

*Note: Emphasise structural alignment and spinal health.

Our Proactive TCM Approach to Healing

Additional
TCM Herbal Medication

Bespoke herbal formulas to nourish tendons and bones from within, fortifying your body against future re-injury.

NOTE: In cases of severe trauma, fractures, or injuries requiring immediate medical attention, TCM should not be used as a primary treatment. Seek conventional medical care first. Our physicians will also refer you to the appropriate medical specialist whenever necessary.

When considering TCM for pain or injury management, please consult our physicians to discuss your condition and explore the best treatment options based on your body pattern.

Frequently asked questions

What treatments are included in the Pain & Injury Management programme?

Most sessions begin with a core combination of Acupuncture and Cupping (Ba Guan) to relieve immediate pain and clear blood stagnation. Depending on your specific condition, our physicians may also incorporate Gua Sha (Scraping) or Moxibustion to dispel “Cold-Dampness” and accelerate tissue healing.

Where can I receive Super Inductive System (SIS) therapy?

The Super Inductive System (SIS)—a high-intensity electromagnetic technology for deep-tissue repair—is currently available exclusively at our PULSE Signature (ION Orchard) and Great World clinics. This advanced therapy is ideal for patients seeking rapid relief from fractures or chronic nerve pain.

Can I get Bone Setting or Medical Tuina at any PULSE clinic?
While all our clinics offer pain management, TCM Bone Setting and Medical Tuina are specialised manual therapies. These are performed only by selected physicians with advanced structural expertise. We recommend checking our Physician Directory to see which specialists are available at your preferred location.
How do I prepare for my TCM session?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing. Ensure you have had a light meal an hour before and are well-hydrated.

Is Gua Sha or Moxibustion better for my injury?

This depends on your “Body Pattern.” Gua Sha is generally used for inflammatory pain and muscle knots (like “Office Syndrome”), while Moxibustion is preferred for “Cold-type” pain, such as stiff joints that feel worse in air-conditioning. Your physician will determine the best method during your initial assessment.

How does Acupuncture help with sports injuries?

Acupuncture triggers the release of natural painkillers (endorphins) and improves localised blood flow. This reduces swelling and speeds up the repair of torn ligaments or strained muscles. It is a drug-free, non-invasive way to get back to peak performance faster.

How many sessions will I need for long-term relief?

Acute injuries (like a recent ankle sprain) may require only 2–4 sessions. However, chronic issues like slipped discs or frozen shoulder usually require a consistent treatment plan over several weeks to ensure the structural balance is fully restored and to prevent a relapse.

Are the treatments painful?

Most patients feel a slight “De-Qi” sensation (a unique dull ache or tingling) during acupuncture, which is a sign the body is responding. Gua Sha and Cupping may leave temporary marks on the skin, but these are painless and typically fade within 3 to 5 days as the body processes the released toxins.

How do I book a specialist for Bone Setting?

You can either complete the online booking form below or WhatsApp us. If you specifically require Bone Setting or Tuina, please mention this in the “Remarks” section or call the clinic so we can ensure you are scheduled with a qualified specialist at that location.
