Crucian carp tong cao soup

Crucian carp (鲫鱼) with rice paper pith (通草) and ginger. A kitchen pot traditionally used to help regulate milk flow after birth.

In brief

Fry one cleaned crucian carp until golden, then simmer with 10 g rice paper pith (通草) and a few ginger slices in water to cover for about thirty minutes. Season with salt. Many mothers use this pot two to three times a week when milk flow needs regulating. It is kitchen food therapy beside midwifery care, not a cure for low supply.

FAQs

Quick questions

How often can I drink this soup?

The source guidance is two to three times a week when the pot matches your pattern. It is not an everyday tonic for every constitution.

Why add rice paper pith (通草)?

In kitchen TCM, 通草 is used with crucian carp when the aim is to help milk flow move more smoothly. Amounts stay food-therapy scale; do not self-dose stronger herbal decoctions from a label alone.
