Supporting strength, mobility, and everyday independence when exercise feels hard to start.
Paragon · Device + optional TCM
Ten-minute muscle activation at Paragon. Optional TCM when patterns need more than the device alone.
In brief
BIXEPS at PULSE is a short, seated muscle-activation session using a magnetic field on one upper thigh. Sessions run about 10 minutes at our Paragon clinic. You can book the device alone, or add a TCM consultation so a physician can assess patterns and recommend acupuncture, cupping, or herbs when useful.
The programme
BIXEPS is a muscle activation device based on Muscle Magnetic Mitohormesis Therapy, co-developed at the National University of Singapore and ETH Zurich. At PULSE, it sits as a practical recovery option for people who need support getting stronger, recovering between sessions, or easing lingering aches, with TCM available when a broader pattern assessment helps.
You place one upper thigh into the device for about 10 minutes while it delivers a gentle electromagnetic field. The aim is to support mitochondrial activity in muscle and encourage myokine signalling that can circulate more widely. Progress usually needs a run of weekly sessions rather than a one-off visit. BIXEPS is not a replacement for exercise, and it is not a substitute for acute injury care on our Pain & Injury pathway when red-flag symptoms need that focus. New to the device? Read how BIXEPS works.
How the device works
The device
During use, BIXEPS generates electromagnetic fields intended to activate muscle mitochondria in a way that echoes some of the cellular responses of exercise. Activated muscle may release myokines into circulation, which is one reason users sometimes notice effects beyond the treated leg.
Research and device literature suggest about 10 minutes is an optimal exposure window for this technology. Shorter or longer sessions are not offered as a way to “do more.” Screening comes first so we can confirm you can use the device safely. Available at Paragon only.
Care pathways
Three common reasons people book BIXEPS. Your screening and optional TCM consult may refine the mix of goals and whether acupuncture or herbs join the plan.
* Results vary with musculoskeletal condition, lifestyle, and how many weekly sessions you complete. A course of about 10 to 12 weekly sessions is commonly recommended before judging meaningful change.
Approach to healing
BIXEPS can stand alone after screening. When you add a TCM consultation, your physician may recommend acupuncture, cupping, or herbs based on your assessment. Not every visit uses every modality.
A screened, about 10-minute session with one upper thigh in the device (both legs in one visit when screening allows). Used to support muscle activation, recovery comfort, and mobility goals over a weekly course. Currently available at Paragon only.
About BIXEPS
Fine sterile needles after consultation when your physician wants to ease stagnation, support local circulation, or settle pain patterns alongside BIXEPS.
Acupuncture treatment
Gentle suction to ease deep-seated tightness and stagnation when that fits your pattern after assessment.
Cupping treatment
Safety-regulated formulas may join when your physician builds them into the plan to nourish qi and Blood or support recovery between visits.

Pricing
Device sessions are offered as a package so expectations match a multi-week course. Optional TCM consultation is charged separately. Prices exclude GST.

* Prices exclude GST. Single BIXEPS sessions are not offered, because meaningful change is unlikely from one visit; clinical device literature typically discusses gains after about 12 weekly sessions. ^ Consultation fee varies with physician seniority and excludes add-on treatments. What to expect
Your musculoskeletal history and goals shape the plan. The steps below are a general guide. Session count and whether TCM joins are confirmed after screening and, if booked, consultation.
Complete a short registration and safety screen so we can confirm BIXEPS is appropriate for you. Tell us about implants, recent surgery, and current injuries before the first session.
Sit with one upper thigh in the device while it runs. The session is brief and does not replace your usual training or walking plan. BIXEPS can sit before or after a TCM consult on the same visit when both are booked.
If you add a physician consult (about 30 to 45 minutes), we discuss your constitution, deficiencies, and goals. Acupuncture, cupping, or herbs may be recommended when they fit, charged as add-ons. Combining both aims at more holistic progress than the device alone.
BIXEPS sits in a medical TCM setting, so screening and optional physician assessment stay close to the session.
You know where to book. Device care is currently only at our Paragon clinic.
TCM can name underlying patterns while BIXEPS supports muscle activation and recovery comfort.
We do not sell one-off sessions as a miracle. Packages match the multi-week window device literature discusses.
Physicians
TCMPB-registered under MOH. Several physicians work with pain, sports recovery, and musculoskeletal patterns when you add a TCM consult beside BIXEPS.
BIXEPS is useful when someone needs a low-effort activation option, especially seniors restarting movement or athletes stacking recovery tools. I still want a clear picture of injury history and implants before the first session.
When patients book TCM beside BIXEPS, I look at qi and Blood flow, joint comfort, and training load together. The device does not replace pulse, tongue, and a proper consult when patterns are complex.

FAQs
Solo sessions, course length, timing, implants, Paragon availability, and how this sits beside Pain & Injury care.
Yes. You can book BIXEPS sessions on their own after screening. Adding a TCM consultation is optional when you want pattern assessment and possible acupuncture, cupping, or herbs beside the device course.
We do not offer single sessions. Device literature and clinic experience discuss meaningful change after a multi-week course, often around 10 to 12 weekly visits. Offering one-offs would misrepresent how the modality is usually used. Exact needs still vary by condition and goals.
Research and device guidance point to about 10 minutes as an optimal window for this technology. Shorter or longer exposures are not treated as a way to get stronger results, so we keep sessions to that timing.
One upper thigh per session is standard because it helps maximise myokine signalling per visit; those molecules circulate, which is one reason people may notice effects beyond the treated leg. When screening allows, both legs in one visit may be offered. Frailer users often start with single-leg sessions.
BIXEPS is a seated muscle-activation device using low-energy magnetic fields for about 10 minutes. Our BIXEPS treatment page explains the technology, safety, and how it compares to SIS. This programme page covers booking, packages, and audience pathways at Paragon.
No. Exercise still trains the heart, circulation, mood, and many other systems BIXEPS does not replace. We use the device to support conditions that make activity harder, or to assist recovery so you can train and move more consistently over time.
Do not use BIXEPS if you have active electronic implants such as a pacemaker or defibrillator. Many passive implants that are MRI-compatible are considered acceptable, including many modern dental and non-ferromagnetic implants, but if you are unsure about your implant type, ask your doctor before booking. We also screen at the clinic.
BIXEPS is currently only available at our Paragon TCM clinic. Prefer Paragon when you book, or mention BIXEPS in your note so the team can guide you.
Pain & Injury is the physician-led pathway for chronic pain, sports injuries, migraine, and joint plans using acupuncture, bodywork, and related modalities. BIXEPS is a device-led recovery option at Paragon that you can use alone or with optional TCM. Acute or complex injury care still belongs on the Pain & Injury pathway.
Use the online booking form, WhatsApp, or phone. Select Pain & injury as the concern, BIXEPS Muscle Recovery as the service, and Paragon as the preferred clinic when prompted.
