The programme

Nutrition plans that fit real life

Cutting food groups or shrinking meals without a clear plan can leave you stuck, bloated, or unsure what to eat next. MNT starts from your medical picture and how you already eat.

A certified dietitian builds a personalised plan for weight, gut comfort, blood sugar, cholesterol, gout, intolerances, or cancer nutrition support when food is part of the problem. TCM may already share pattern-matched food notes. We help you apply those notes in daily meals and keep them aligned with Western medical guidance, without a crash diet or a one-size menu.

What to expect

From first booking to follow-up

Timing below is a general guide. Your dietitian confirms pacing after the first assessment.

  1. Book your first appointment

Complete the booking form or ask your PULSE physician or clinic staff for a referral note. Mention Medical Nutrition Therapy and your main concern.

  2. First consultation (up to 45–60 minutes)

Bring relevant blood tests and medication details. For existing PULSE patients, the dietitian can review treatment history with your physician. Assessment covers medical, weight, and diet histories, plus typical eating patterns. You leave with personalised coaching, meal guidance, and learning materials.

  3. Follow-up consultations (about 30–45 minutes)

Review results, adjust for lifestyle changes, and refine the plan. Many people do better with at least two to three sessions so obstacles can be addressed before habits slip.

FAQs

Medical Nutrition Therapy questions, answered

Definition, fees, session count, TCM vs dietitian, and how to book.

What is Medical Nutrition Therapy?

Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) is an evidence-based medical approach to supporting certain conditions through an individually tailored nutrition plan with a certified dietitian. It focuses on sustainable eating for your lifestyle and goals rather than short-term restriction.

Is Medical Nutrition Therapy the same as TCM dietary therapy?

No. TCM dietary therapy (食疗) is pattern-led food guidance from a TCM physician after consultation. Medical Nutrition Therapy is delivered by a certified dietitian as Allied Health care. Your physician may share food notes that fit your pattern. When medical nutrition support is needed, book MNT. See Dietary Therapy for the shi liao modality.

How is this different from the Weight Management programme?

Weight Management is physician-led TCM for metabolism and digestion patterns, often with acupuncture and related modalities. This page is dietitian-led MNT for structured meal planning and condition-led nutrition coaching. Many people use both; neither replaces the other.

How much does a dietitian session cost at PULSE?

Preventative Medical Nutrition Therapy sessions are $130. Disease- management sessions are $210. Prices exclude GST. Consultations that exceed the standard timing may incur additional charges. Existing PULSE TCM customers may be eligible for a special discount when referred by a physician.

How many dietitian sessions will I need?

It depends on your goals. One session may suffice for simple questions. Better follow-through usually needs at least two to three sessions so the plan can be reviewed and adjusted. Your dietitian will outline a pacing after assessment.

What should I bring to my first consultation?

Bring relevant blood tests, a list of medications and supplements, and notes on typical meals or symptoms. Existing PULSE patients can ask clinic staff to share treatment history with the dietitian.

Can MNT help with IBS, diabetes, or food intolerances?

Yes, those are common reasons people book disease-management or preventative sessions, depending on the presentation. Suitability is confirmed after assessment. Unguided long restriction without professional guidance can leave nutrient gaps.

Do you use restrictive diets or sell expensive supplements?

The focus is a personalised, sustainable eating plan for your condition and lifestyle. The aim is informed food decisions you can keep, not a hard sell of restrictive templates or unnecessary supplements.

Who reviews this page if care is dietitian-led?

Care is delivered by certified dietitians. This page is clinically reviewed by a PULSE TCM physician advisor so East-meets-West framing and safety language stay consistent with the wider clinic network.

How do I book Medical Nutrition Therapy?

Use the online booking form, WhatsApp, or phone. Choose Medical Nutrition Therapy (Dietitian) as the service interest and name your main concern. You can also askPULSE or request a physician referral from any PULSE clinic.
