Menstrual pain is not a given
痛经 · 经前 · Qi and Blood
Menstrual pain is not a natural, inevitable part of menstruation. Cycles can be far quieter, with minimal pre- and post-menstrual signs (PMS), when Qi and Blood move well.
Acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and a few lifestyle adjustments work together toward that quieter picture. Chinese medicine has a long record in gynaecology. Menstrual cramps and PMS often respond well when the pattern underneath is named.
Liver Qi stagnation, Qi and Blood stagnation, Spleen Qi deficiency, and Cold-Damp are the four pictures behind many PMS flares. See TCM for PMS symptoms for that map. Needles move those pictures when a physician times care across the cycle.
