Who this suits

Three presentations we see often

Start here if one of these sounds familiar. Tone, brown spots, and redness often sit with the ageing and complexion pathway below.

TCM support for acne and breakouts at PULSE

Acne & breakouts

Active spots, oily skin, and lingering marks when Heat or Damp patterns sit behind the surface.

TCM support for eczema and reactive skin at PULSE

Eczema & reactive skin

Itch, dryness, psoriasis flares, and sensitive cycles that keep returning despite creams alone.

TCM support for ageing skin and complexion at PULSE

Ageing & complexion

Softening tone, fine lines, dullness, brown spots, or flushing redness when qi and Blood to the face run low.

Your visit

Consult, diagnose, treat

One clear loop. No fixed package until your physician has read the pattern.

  1. Consultation

Share your skin history, current care, and goals. Pulse and tongue sit beside what you see on the face.

  2. Diagnosis

Your physician names the TCM pattern in plain language and outlines options before any treatment.

  3. Treatment

Facial acupuncture, gua sha, or related care when suitable and you consent that day.

  4. Medication

Customised herbal formulas only if prescribed; herbs are charged separately from the session.

Beyond the surface

Skin as a signal of internal balance

TCM reads facial concerns through Qi, Blood, and organ patterns, not as a single surface fix.

Stress, sleep, and diet can disrupt Qi and leave skin more reactive; poor circulation can dull complexion; organ imbalance can show as breakouts, itch, or redness. Care starts by naming that pattern so facial acupuncture and herbs, when used, target the same story. Dermatology stays essential for infection, sudden widespread rash, or lesions that need medical review first.

Facial acupuncture

Fine needles on the face and body points to support complexion, calm local Heat, and address the pattern behind the skin.

Facial gua sha for TCM skincare at PULSE TCM

Gua sha

Therapeutic facial scraping when your physician judges circulation and puffiness will respond. Not a spa facial package.

Chinese herbal medicine for skin patterns at PULSE TCM

Herbal medicine

Customised formulas for internal and, when indicated, external use after assessment. Charged separately from the treatment session.

FAQs

Skin and facial visits, answered

Practical notes before you book. Your physician still confirms the plan in clinic.

What do I need to take note of before my appointment?

Wear comfortable clothing that can be adjusted easily, and remove accessories. We can provide a change of gown if needed. Photos of flares, cycle notes if relevant, and a list of current creams or medicines help the consult.

What can I expect during an acupuncture session (if required)?

You typically start with a consultation covering your health history and concerns. You then lie down comfortably while the practitioner inserts thin, sterile needles into specific points on your body or face when that is part of the plan.

Is acupuncture safe? Does it hurt?

At PULSE, acupuncture is performed by a trained TCM physician using sterile needles and is generally considered safe and low risk. Needles are hair-thin (about 0.12–0.30 mm); a typical injection needle is around 0.9–1.3 mm. Most people feel little lasting discomfort. If you have concerns, tell your physician before and during treatment so they can adjust. Notify the physician before treatment if you have an alcohol allergy.

How long does each session take?

Each visit usually takes about 30–60 minutes. A session includes detailed consultation and treatment when treatment is confirmed that day. There is typically no significant downtime; you may continue regular activities after the appointment.

How many sessions are required?

Session count varies with the condition and how your body responds. Some people notice a difference after 1 or 2 sessions; chronic skin patterns often need a longer course. Your physician reviews progress as you go.

Can I continue steroid creams or acne medication while doing TCM?

Often yes, as complementary care. Tell your physician about any creams, oral medicines, or isotretinoin so plans stay coordinated. Do not stop prescribed treatment without your medical doctor's advice.

When should I see a dermatologist instead of, or as well as, TCM?

Seek conventional medical care for infected lesions, sudden widespread rash, severe allergic reaction, or moles and spots that change quickly. TCM can sit alongside dermatology when your physicians agree it is appropriate.

How much does TCM facial acupuncture cost at PULSE?

First visits that include a physician consult plus facial acupuncture start from $78 when that is the confirmed plan. GST applies. Herbal medication, if prescribed, is charged separately. Later visits follow the fees confirmed that day. Book a consultation to confirm a plan for your concern.

This page describes physician-led TCM support for skin and facial concerns at PULSE. Suitability, modalities, and session count are confirmed after consultation. TCM complements, and does not replace, urgent or specialist Western medical care, including infected skin, sudden widespread rash, severe allergic reaction, or lesions that need dermatology assessment. For medical emergencies, seek conventional medical attention immediately.
