Three-roots soup (三根汤) for dampness-heat

Kudzu root (葛根), reed rhizome (芦根), and imperata root (白茅根) simmered together. A light pot used when humid heat sits with thirst and muscle ache.

In brief

Three-roots soup (三根汤) combines kudzu, reed rhizome, and imperata root. Soak 30 minutes, simmer about 20 minutes, and drink warm. In kitchen TCM it helps clear heat, nourish Yin, and ease muscle aches on dampness-heat days. Educational food therapy, not emergency heat-stroke care.

  • Ge Gen, Lu Gen, and Bai Mao Gen. Drink warm after a short simmer.

FAQs

Quick questions

Do I need all three roots?

The classic pot on this page uses kudzu, reed rhizome, and imperata root together. Do not swap in random supermarket “roots” without guidance.

How often can I drink this?

Occasional bowls on damp-heat days are the educational habit. Ease off if you feel chilled or stools loosen.
