What is a cold womb (Gong Han) in TCM?
Gong Han · Kidney Yang
Cold can come from iced drinks, cold rooms, and thin clothes around the waist, or from weak Kidney Yang inside the body. Either way, the uterine environment lacks enough warmth to move Blood well.
- Gong (宫): the uterus, ovaries, and fallopian tubes as a reproductive “palace”.
- Han (寒): cold or stagnating cold that constricts flow.
The Kidneys govern reproduction. A cold womb often shows as Kidney Yang deficiency: too little “internal fire” to keep the uterus warm and Blood-rich. Consuming cold foods or sitting in cold air can further deplete that Kidney fire.
