What does Healthier SG mean for TCM patients in Singapore?

You can keep seeing a TCM physician and enrol with a Healthier SG family doctor. Scheme subsidies for screening and vaccinations sit with that GP; TCM at PULSE stays TCMPB-registered private care.

In brief

Yes, you can do both. Enrol with a Healthier SG family doctor for subsidised screenings, vaccinations, and chronic GP care while continuing TCMPB-registered TCM at PULSE for lifestyle and prevention. Scheme subsidies sit with your Healthier SG GP; TCM consultations and treatments at PULSE are not subsidised by the scheme today. Use the official GoWhere Clinic Finder and Healthier SG site to find a GP and enrol. Every consulting physician at PULSE is TCMPB-registered under MOH.

01 · Concurrent care

You can do both

TCM + Healthier SG GP

Enrolment with a Healthier SG family doctor does not stop you from seeing a TCM physician. Many patients use both: GP-led subsidised screening and vaccinations, plus TCM for lifestyle and prevention.

  • Enrol / learn more: see Healthier SG and HealthHub for enrolment, benefits, and your health plan.
  • Find a clinic: use the Healthier SG Clinic Finder on GoWhere to locate an enrolled GP near you.
  • Screening and vaccines: complete government-subsidised preventive care through that GP, not through a TCM clinic.
  • Bring notes: share relevant GP reports with your TCM physician so herbs and plans sit safely beside Western prescriptions.

02 · Where subsidies sit

Is TCM covered under Healthier SG?

Healthier SG · GP-anchored scheme

Subsidised screening, vaccinations, and chronic GP care sit with your Healthier SG family doctor. TCM consultations and treatments at PULSE stay private TCMPB-registered care today.

  • What the GP side can subsidise: enrolment with a Healthier SG family doctor, health screening, vaccinations, and chronic disease management under the scheme.
  • What stays outside the scheme today: TCM consults, acupuncture, herbs, and other TCM modalities at a private TCM clinic such as PULSE.

That split matters for expectations. If you are looking for government-subsidised preventive benefits, those sit with your Healthier SG GP. If you want pattern-based TCM care for lifestyle, fatigue, digestion, pain, or prevention, that continues as private TCMPB-registered care.

03 · Roles

Who does what: GP and TCM

Role split

National discussion of TCM beside Healthier SG keeps a clear division of labour. The useful TCM role is lifestyle and preventive support, not replacing GP-led scheme care.

04 · At PULSE

How PULSE helps today

Recommend · reconcile · continue care

Day to day we keep TCM care going and help you use Healthier SG for subsidised GP preventive care.

  • Registered care: every consulting physician is TCMPB-registered under MOH.
  • Find a Healthier SG GP: use the official GoWhere Clinic Finder. Ask at the desk if you want a hand with that.
  • Medicines stay with your GP: we do not ask you to stop, replace, or change prescribed Western medicines. Share GP notes and herbal plans so everything sits safely side by side.
  • Herbs and interactions: tell us what you already take; your physician checks herb-drug fit and can flag concerns back to your family doctor when needed.

We don’t enrol you into Healthier SG or run those GP services. For enrolment and benefits, start at healthiersg.gov.sg.

05 · Credentials

Registration vs accreditation

TCMPB · MOH

These are easy to confuse. Only one is required for you to receive legal TCM care in Singapore today.

  • TCMPB registration: the practising licence under the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board (a statutory board under MOH). Check each physician’s number on their profile.
  • Accreditation: a separate voluntary standard MOH is developing. It is not required to practise TCM today, and it would matter for any future joint-enrolment path under the Healthier SG-TCM proof of concept.

Registration is what you need to see a TCM physician legally today. Accreditation is a forthcoming standard that may unlock coordinated Healthier SG pathways later. At PULSE, check TCMPB numbers on physician profiles while we prepare for that next step.

06 · Looking ahead

We’re preparing for the next step

MOH · Healthier SG-TCM PoC

MOH is developing a Healthier SG-TCM joint enrolment proof of concept. PULSE is working with a GP partner on a proposal so TCM-inclined patients can enrol and stay coordinated with family-doctor care when the model is ready.

  • Where we are: preparing a joint proposal. Partner clinics, workflows, and funding details are not final, so we are not offering joint enrolment through PULSE today.
  • What stays true now: keep TCM at PULSE, and enrol with a Healthier SG GP for subsidised screening and vaccinations via the official tools.
  • When it lands: we will update this page with a clear patient path. No need to wait; concurrent care already works.

Until MOH confirms the model, use Healthier SG for GP-side benefits and PULSE for TCMPB-registered TCM. That is already a strong combination.

FAQs

Coverage and concurrent GP care

Clear answers before you mix TCM visits with Healthier SG enrolment.

Is TCM covered under Healthier SG?

Subsidised enrolment benefits such as health screening, vaccinations, and chronic disease management with a family doctor sit with your Healthier SG GP. TCM consultations and treatments at PULSE are outside the scheme today. You can continue TCM alongside GP care.

Can I see a TCM physician and still enrol in Healthier SG?

Yes. Keep seeing your TCM physician, and enrol with a Healthier SG family doctor for subsidised screening and vaccinations. Learn more on Healthier SG and HealthHub. Find an enrolled GP with the GoWhere Clinic Finder.

What do GPs do vs TCM under this direction?

Healthier SG GPs handle screening, vaccinations, and chronic disease management under the scheme. TCM physicians at PULSE focus on pattern-based care, lifestyle, dietary therapy, and prevention. The two can sit side by side; they are not substitutes for each other.

What is TCMPB registration vs accreditation?

Registration is the licence to practise Traditional Chinese Medicine under MOH. Accreditation is a separate voluntary framework still being developed, and it may matter for future Healthier SG-TCM joint pathways. Every consulting physician at PULSE is TCMPB-registered today.

How can PULSE help with Healthier SG?

We deliver TCMPB-registered TCM care and point you to official tools: GoWhere Clinic Finder for a nearby Healthier SG GP, and Healthier SG for enrolment and benefits. We do not enrol you into Healthier SG or run those GP services ourselves.

Does PULSE participate in the Healthier SG-TCM joint enrolment initiative?

We are working with a GP partner on a proposal for MOH’s Healthier SG-TCM proof of concept. The model is not final yet, so joint enrolment is not available through PULSE today. Meanwhile you can keep TCM care here and enrol with a Healthier SG GP for subsidised screening and vaccinations via GoWhere and Healthier SG. We will update this guide when the pathway is confirmed.
