Lotus Plumulae (Lian Zi Xin), the bitter green embryo inside lotus seeds, is a classic kitchen brew for Heart fire. Useful when stress and poor sleep show as forehead heat patterns.
In brief
Lotus Plumulae tea with a little licorice is a traditional cooling brew for Heart and Liver heat from stress and poor sleep. Forehead acne on a face map is one presentation of that heat. It is notably bitter; think of it as the espresso of herbal teas. Educational food therapy, not a cure.
Recipe
Rinse the lotus plumules and licorice slices under cold water.
Place the licorice in a small pot with the water. Bring to a boil, then simmer on low for 5 minutes.
Turn off the heat, add Lotus Plumulae, cover, and steep 5–7 minutes.
Add rock sugar while simmering so it dissolves. If using honey, wait until the tea is below about 60°C before stirring it in.

FAQs
Lotus Plumulae is classically bitter. Bitterness is part of the clearing quality in food therapy. A little rock sugar or honey after cooling slightly is fine for most people.
No guarantee. It is a supportive kitchen habit for Heart fire patterns. Persistent same-spot breakouts still warrant clinical assessment.
