Chinese barley (薏米) drains dampness. Mung beans (green beans) clear heat. Together with a little rock sugar and optional pandan, this is a classic kitchen dessert when spicy, oily, or sweet meals have stacked as facial heat.
In brief
Chinese barley with mung beans (green beans) is educational food therapy when dampness-heat shows as oily, slower-healing acne. Simmer about 30 minutes, then add pandan if you like the fragrance. People with diarrhoea should not take it long term. It is a different pot from fragrant mung bean soup with pandan alone.

FAQs

No. Pandan adds fragrance. The barley, beans, and simmer time matter more for the cooling food-therapy habit.
