External wind vs internal organ coughs
外感咳嗽 · 五脏六腑
External coughs often start suddenly after weather change. Internal coughs usually build more slowly, last longer, and flare with meals, weather, or emotion.
The Lungs are delicate and easily hit by wind, cold, heat, or dryness. Coughs sit in two buckets: sudden coughs after weather change (external wind, 外感咳嗽) and longer coughs tied to digestion, dampness, or stress (internal organ imbalance, 五脏六腑).
