A 7-day plan to strengthen the immune system

A habit ladder for everyday defensive Qi. One Do, Eat, and Move each day; deepen points and pots on boosting immunity with TCM.

In brief

Use one Do, one Eat, and one Move each day for a week. Those habits support everyday Wei Qi (卫气, defensive Qi) through Lung and Spleen tone: sleep by 11pm, water (lb ÷ 2 oz or ~30–35 ml/kg), colourful plates, morning sun, calm, and gentle movement. In Singapore, iced drinks, AC desk hours, and late nights often thin that readiness. Cold showers are optional. Recurring infections still need a physician pattern read; deepen points and pots on boosting immunity with TCM.

01 · Habit ladder

A week that supports everyday defensive Qi

卫气 · Lung · Spleen

This page is the habit ladder: one Do, one Eat, and one Move each day. Wei Qi (卫气, defensive Qi) is the outer readiness that meets everyday load; sleep, plates, calm, and steady movement feed the Lung and Spleen tone behind that shield. For Zheng Qi framing, home points, and kitchen pots, read boosting immunity with TCM.

  • One triad a day: keep a single Do, Eat, and Move habit so the week stays realistic.
  • Singapore load: iced kopi, bubble tea, long AC desk hours, haze, and late nights often thin Wei Qi even in a hot climate.
  • Optional intensity: cold showers and longer holds only when you already feel steady.
Seven days at a glance
Do Eat Move
Day 1 Hand-wash 20 seconds Extra leafy greens
Day 2 Hydration from body weight Rainbow produce + mushrooms
Day 3 Protect sleep hygiene Nuts and seeds (Omega-3)
Day 4 Morning sun ≥15 minutes Whole grains and legumes
Day 5 Quiet the mind 5–10 minutes Cook with herbs and spices
Day 6 Optional cold morning rinse Citrus and crucifers (Vitamin C)
Day 7 Reach out to someone you miss Quality protein on the plate
Leafy greens and hand soap by a clean sink for Day 1 immune hygiene habits

02 · Day 1

Clean hands, greens, soft tissue

Surface hygiene · Spleen greens

Hygiene lowers everyday pathogen load at the surface the Lungs help guard.

  • Do: Wash hands ≥20 seconds (about two Happy Birthday songs).
  • Eat: Extra leafy greens for fibre and micronutrients that support Spleen-fed immune tone.
  • Move: Foam-roller self-massage when stiffness stacks; soft tissue work may ease inflammatory load.
Glass of water with citrus and greens in soft morning light for immune hydration habits

03 · Day 2

Water, colour, steady movement

Fluid · Spleen rainbow · Wei Qi pace

Immune cells travel in blood that is mostly water. Colourful plants and low-impact exercise keep circulation honest without draining Wei Qi.

  • Do: Body weight in pounds ÷ 2 ≈ minimum ounces of water; or about 30–35 ml per kg in metric. Adjust for Singapore heat and any fluid limits.
  • Eat: Rainbow produce plus mushrooms; ease iced drinks when Spleen already feels heavy. Flavour map: food for health.
  • Move: ≥30 minutes walking, yoga, or swimming.
Walnuts and seeds beside a dim bedside lamp for Day 3 sleep and Omega-3 habits

04 · Day 3

Sleep, healthy fats, lymph bounce

11pm · Gallbladder-Lung · Omega-3

Steadier sleep supports overnight repair and next-day resistance. TCM teaching favours landing by 11pm so the Gallbladder-to-Lung night window can restore Wei Qi.

  • Do: Protect sleep hygiene before harder exercise. Depth: why sleep before 11pm matters.
  • Eat: Flax, chia, and walnuts for Omega-3 fats that may ease inflammatory load.
  • Move: One set of 12 side-to-side jumps to keep lymph moving.
Bowl of brown rice and legumes in morning sunlight for Day 4 immune habits

05 · Day 4

Morning sun, grains, squats

Lung surface · Spleen earth

Short outdoor light supports Vitamin D regulation. Whole grains and legumes feed Spleen earth with fibre, B vitamins, and zinc.

  • Do: Morning sun ≥15 minutes when weather allows; shade wisely in harsh midday glare.
  • Eat: Whole grains and legumes on the plate.
  • Move: Squats for glutes, legs, and circulation.
Ginger, turmeric, garlic, and kitchen spices on a board for Day 5 calm cooking habits

06 · Day 5

Calm, spices, Pilates

Heart-Liver calm · kitchen spice

Quiet minutes lower stress load that can thin defensive tone. Kitchen herbs raise nutrient density; Pilates supports lymph and breath.

  • Do: Five to ten quiet minutes: breath, meditation, or a warm shower settle.
  • Eat: Cook with herbs and spices; bioavailability often rises when they are used together. Kitchen support when Wei Qi runs thin: Immunity Booster Tea.
  • Move: Pilates for strength, flexibility, lymph, and breath.
Orange, lemon, broccoli, and Brussels sprouts for Day 6 Vitamin C foods

07 · Day 6

Cold rinse optional, Vitamin C, Superman

Yang warmth · citrus · circulation

A brief cold rinse is optional stimulation. Skip it if you run cold, feel frail, or show a cold Yang-deficient pattern; warmth after is fine.

  • Do: Short cold shower first thing only if you tolerate it; water on chest and face.
  • Eat: Citrus and crucifers (Brussels sprouts, broccoli) for Vitamin C during recovery from viral illness, including after COVID-19. Supports antioxidant load; does not replace medical care.
  • Move: Superman holds, 10 reps of 1–2 minutes, for back strength and circulation.
Plate with eggs, tofu, and chickpeas for Day 7 quality protein habits

08 · Day 7

Connection, protein, plank

Heart contact · Spleen protein

Social contact supports recovery tone. Protein feeds immune cell building; a short plank closes the week.

  • Do: Reach out to someone you have not spoken to for a while.
  • Eat: Eggs, fish, tofu, legumes, or quality meats when they fit your diet.
  • Move: Plank 30–60 seconds.

Clinic cue

When habits are not enough

Keep the week as home support. Book when the pattern keeps returning, or deepen the map in boosting immunity with TCM.

1. Recurring infections

Colds, throat flares, or sinus load that keep coming back despite hygiene and rest.

2. Post-illness lag

Fatigue, cough, or thin sleep that linger weeks after an infection.

3. Singapore lifestyle load

Late nights, AC desk hours, and iced drinks stacking with low resistance.

4. Urgent red flags

High fever, breathlessness, chest pain, stiff neck, or sudden neurological change need urgent medical care first.

FAQs

Questions, answered

Common questions before you stack the week or book for low resistance.

How does a 7-day immune plan work?

Each day pairs one Do habit, one Eat habit, and one Move habit. Small upgrades stack across the week. In TCM framing, those habits support Wei Qi through Lung and Spleen readiness. They are educational lifestyle cues, not a fixed clinical protocol. For points and kitchen pots, see boosting immunity with TCM.

How much water should I drink for immune support?

A practical start: body weight in pounds ÷ 2 ≈ minimum ounces per day, or about 30–35 ml per kg in metric. Nutrients travel in blood that is mostly water. Adjust for Singapore heat, exercise, and any medical fluid limits.

Why does sleep matter for immunity?

Poor sleep raises infection risk; steadier sleep supports overnight repair and next-day resistance. TCM teaching favours landing by 11pm so the Gallbladder-to-Lung night window can restore Wei Qi. Protect sleep hygiene before stacking harder exercise.

Are cold showers safe for everyone?

A brief cold rinse in the morning may feel stimulating for some people. Skip or shorten it if you run cold, feel frail, are acutely unwell, show a cold Yang-deficient pattern, or have cardiovascular concerns. Let the water hit the chest and face only when you tolerate it.

Do iced drinks and AC weaken immunity in TCM?

Frequent iced kopi, bubble tea, and long AC desk hours with midriff or feet uncovered are common Singapore loads that can thin Spleen Yang and invite wind-cold into surface channels the Lungs guard. Warm drinks and covering the nape help; recurring sniffles still need a pattern read.

When are lifestyle immune tips not enough?

Book a consult when infections keep returning, fatigue or cough linger after illness, sleep stays broken despite habits, or work and AC load keep thinning your resistance. The Immunity and Vitality programme is built for that pattern read beside home habits.

Does a 7-day plan replace a TCM consult or vaccines?

No. These habits support everyday defensive tone. They do not replace vaccination schedules, MOH guidance, GP care, or a physician consult when symptoms persist or red flags appear.
